Pomerene Hospital is an independent, private, not-for-profit community hospital based in Millersburg, Ohio, serving Holmes County and the counties contiguous to it. Founded in 1919 as The Joel Pomerene Hospital Company, the organisation opened its hospital on June 1st 1937 with the support of Pomerene family donations and a 1.5-mil levy passed by county taxpayers. It has since grown from a small facility - originally 10 physicians, a 6-bed women's ward, a 3-bed men's ward, six private rooms, a 3-bed obstetrics ward and a nursery with five cribs - into a hospital with 55 licensed beds.

Today the hospital delivers inpatient and outpatient care across more than 30 departments and services, covering clinical medicine, obstetrics, women's health and multi-specialty medical services. Its workforce comprises more than 350 employees and over 100 medical staff providers, making it one of the largest employers in Holmes County. The hospital has been named one of the Top 20 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States.

Alongside its own services, Pomerene Hospital maintains regional referral partnerships with facilities including Aultman Hospital and Akron Children's Hospital, extending access to specialist care for its rural catchment. Further information is available at pomerenehospital.org.
