WVU Medicine, West Virginia's largest health system, runs 25 hospitals and five clinical institutes across an academic enterprise delivering patient care, research and medical education.

WVU Medicine is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest private employer. A nonprofit academic health enterprise affiliated with West Virginia University, it combines patient care, research and healthcare education within a single organisation, and its work spans cancer care, critical care and trauma, eye care, heart and vascular health, and neuroscience. A research enterprise within the system conducts studies intended to advance patient care, alongside clinical work and the training of healthcare professionals.

The system operates 25 hospitals across West Virginia and its bordering states, ranging from community hospitals and critical access facilities to regional medical centres. Its flagship academic medical center is located in Morgantown, West Virginia. Five specialised clinical institutes cover cancer, critical care and trauma, eye care, heart and vascular health, and neuroscience.

The organisation describes its mission as improving the health of West Virginians and all those it serves through excellence in patient care, research and education. It states a commitment to bringing high-quality healthcare close to home so that patients do not have to travel far for treatment.
