JerseySTEM

JerseySTEM is a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit network that delivers hands-on STEM education to middle school girls in underrepresented communities across New Jersey. Its members include parents, professionals, students and educators, and the organisation operates without a paid staff. Roles within the network are volunteer positions, with members committing to consistent engagement in mentoring, curriculum development and operations management.

The organisation's main programme is a 10-week after-school experience for middle school girls, built around project-based learning that combines teamwork, problem-solving and real-world inquiry. Alongside teaching, volunteers apply professional expertise - spanning technology and curriculum development - to design learning materials, mentor students and run programme operations.

JerseySTEM's stated focus is on diversity, equity and inclusion, particularly gender representation in STEM. It works through partnerships with socially responsible companies, universities and youth organisations, positioning itself within corporate social responsibility and K-12 education as well as the nonprofit youth-development sector.
