Goodwill Central Texas

Goodwill Central Texas is a nonprofit social enterprise founded in 1963 and based in Central Texas. It operates more than 35 retail stores across the region, and the revenue from those stores, together with donations of goods, funds education, job training, career coaching and job placement services for people facing barriers to employment. Those served include individuals with disabilities, people without secondary qualifications, those with criminal backgrounds, people experiencing homelessness and young people with limited opportunity.

The organisation's programmes are delivered through several channels. The Goodwill Career & Technical Academy (GCTA) helps community members earn professional certifications and secure employment. The Excel Center is an adult high school that enables adults to complete their education. Workforce Advancement Services supports people in finding and retaining sustainable careers. Together, these programmes have helped thousands of Central Texans earn certifications, finish their education and obtain work.

Employment at Goodwill Central Texas spans both mission and commercial operations, from retail store management and logistics to education, career coaching and workforce development services. The organisation frames education and work as routes out of poverty and emphasises long-lasting, successful careers over short-term placement, within what it describes as a "cycle of opportunity" linking retail activity to programme delivery.
