Diptyque

Parisian luxury fragrance house founded in 1961, crafting scented candles, personal perfumes, skincare and decorative objects, sold through boutiques and counters worldwide.

Diptyque is a luxury fragrance house founded in Paris in 1961 by three creative visionaries: Yves Coueslant, Benoît Paultiz, and Desmond Knox-Retz. The founders' backgrounds in theatrical scenery design and fabric and textile design informed the house's approach, which balances reverie, nature and art, and draws on travel and cherished memory as sources of inspiration. The company maintains the intimate, artistic spirit of its Parisian origins while operating internationally.

The house produces scented candles, a signature category, alongside personal perfumes, skincare products and decorative objects. Among the founders' earliest evocative perfumes were L'Eau, conceived to capture the essence of distant travels and memories, and Eau de Rochat, created alongside it. These products form part of what the brand describes as an immersive universe intended to let imagination wander freely.

Diptyque's technical domains span perfumery, fragrance development, scented candle making and skincare formulation, together with heritage crafts in theatrical scenery and textile design. The flagship boutique is located at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, with further boutiques and counters worldwide.
