The Battery Network

Nonprofit running America's largest battery collection and recycling network, with 20,000+ drop-off sites and programmes for e-bikes, EVs and high-energy batteries.

The Battery Network, formerly known as Call2Recycle, is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1994 that runs the United States' largest network for the collection and recycling of batteries. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, it links consumers, businesses, manufacturers and municipalities through a single national system. The network encompasses more than 20,000 drop-off locations and, over three decades of operation, has recycled more than 175 million pounds of batteries and recovered in excess of 87,500 tons of materials.

Its work spans the full battery lifecycle. Beyond the consumer drop-off network, the organisation runs specialised programmes for e-bikes, high-energy batteries and electric vehicles, and provides education, collection logistics and regulatory compliance services to its partners. These activities serve industries including battery manufacturing, consumer products, energy storage and municipal government, helping them meet regulatory obligations while recovering critical materials.

The organisation's stated mission is to support a safe transition to a battery-powered world by protecting people, property and the environment, and by reducing reliance on foreign supply chains. The recent rebranding from Call2Recycle to The Battery Network reflects a broader scope than consumer battery collection alone, covering North America as a whole.
