Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP)

Kia's Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP) trains transitioning U.S. military veterans as certified Kia Service Technicians through a one-year dealership-based apprenticeship with technical training.

Kia's Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP) is a U.S. Department of Labor and GI Bill-approved apprenticeship that trains transitioning military veterans to become certified Kia Service Technicians. The one-year, competency-based program combines full-time on-the-job training at participating Kia dealerships in the United States with comprehensive technical instruction and certification in automotive diagnostics and repair.

The programme is designed for and facilitated by veterans familiar with the military-to-civilian transition. Participants work alongside experienced technicians in a mentorship structure, applying the technical expertise, discipline and work ethic developed in service. All tools, equipment and vehicles needed for training are provided. Eligible veteran participants may receive a GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance during their training.

For Kia retailers, hiring through VTAP brings motivated, technically skilled employees along with Work Opportunity Tax Credits and a 180-Day Limited Warranty on each veteran hired. Training emphasises dedication, precision and customer service as part of a structured pathway to certification and a career in automotive service and repair.
