DSC Dredge

DSC Dredge designs and builds custom cutter suction dredges, workboats and boosters, plus sonar visualisation and automation systems, from plants in Louisiana and Mississippi.

DSC Dredge designs and manufactures cutter suction dredges and related equipment from two facilities in Reserve, Louisiana and Poplarville, Mississippi. The company describes itself as the world's leading manufacturer of portable cutter suction dredges, engineering custom machines for individual customers rather than standard models. Its equipment is deployed in more than 50 countries across five continents, serving aggregate mining, sand and gravel production, environmental remediation, coastal restoration, navigational maintenance and marine construction.

The product line spans portable cutter suction dredges, submerged pump dredges, wide format swinging ladder dredges, hull pump conventional and swinging ladder dredges, workboats and booster units. Alongside the hardware, DSC Dredge builds DSC Vision, an underwater visualisation system that uses multibeam sonar imaging and mapping to show operators the dredge's working environment in real time, as well as custom automation packages covering booster control, dredge and plant integration, and remote data access and monitoring.

Technical work at the company therefore cuts across dredge engineering and manufacturing, sonar-based underwater imaging, automation and control systems, and data connectivity. Engineering, design and skilled craft roles work together on machines built to individual customer specifications, with stated aims of raising efficiency and lowering operating costs. DSC Dredge is founded and owned by the Wetta family and has its roots on the Gulf Coast.
